Jim Squires, this is your link blog.

Thank you for a memorable afternoon, usually one must go to a bowling alley to meet a woman of your stature.” - Hobson (as portrayed by Sir John Gielgud, Arthur, 1981)

Day 05 — Your favorite quote

I don’t really treat quotes as a source of inspiration, as much as I do a solid source of plagarism when I’m trying to be witty.  The movie Arthur is full of such quotes worth stealing, so I thought I’d steal one for my Day 05 obligation.

Day 04 — Your favorite bookFreakonomics - Steven D. Levitt, Steven J Dubner

Finally, a “favorite” that jumps right out at me.  Freakonomics single-handedly changed the way I look at the world.  It lays out the cold hard facts of why we act the way we do.  If you haven’t read it, do so immediately.

Day 03 — Your favorite television program

Arrested Development

Favorite TV show is just too hard to really nail down.  I picked Arrested Development for the tumblr challenge because;

A) I had to pick something
B) I love to laugh, but I also love a good story
C) If I went with something that wasn’t a comedy, I’d have to spend a week deciding between The Wire, Lost, and Deadwood.  Quite frankly, my time is worth more than that.

Arrested Development was the single greatest ensemble comedy in television history.  If you haven’t seen it, know that you’ll one day die of cancer so you may as well pick up the box sets right now.

Day 02 — Your favorite movie
Dog Day Afternoon (1975)

Calling Pacino your favorite actor is pretty hack, especially since he’s more or less been shit for the last 30 years.  But 70’s Pacino?  That shit was GOLDEN.  Add into the mix John Cazale, Sidney Lumet, and the craziest real life bank robbery committed to film, and you’ve got an A1 classic in my books.

You fags need to be working on Rolando 3 instead of a fucking cat game.

Day 01 — Your favorite song
Working Class Hero by John Lennon

“favorite” anything is a bit of a challenge, especially if taken literally.  Instead I’m gonna call this “favorite at the moment.”  I’ve been listening to a lot of Lennon in recent days, and this little ditty is tops in my books.  A timeless tune about how the system is designed to keep the unwashed masses complacent and idle.  In other words, he’s just ripping off Rock Lobster.

This is part of the Tumblr 30 Day Challenge, sillies!  Haven’t taken the challenge yourself?  Don’t have a Tumblr account?  Get your proverbial shit together and add me as a friend!

PR Foot in mouth disease

  • This is an actual email conversation that occurred in the last 24 hours. I'm flattered that they wanted to stroke my ego, but it totally backfired on them. Names have been removed so as to not make me a mean douche.
  • **Last Night**
  • Jim: Just following up as we're only an hour from the event and I haven't received a code. Any chance you may still have one available?
  • **This Morning**
  • PR: Sorry for the confusion the part about the code was a typo. I hope you had fun last night – *name removed* and *name removed* were saying how good you were!
  • Jim: Actually, I didn't make it last night. Thought there was a code I'd need.

I have 470 Microsoft points.  I’ve decided to blow them all on Indie games.  Time to see what the community’s been cooking!

Need a few good assignments from my favorite client to get me motivated today.  As it stands, I’m ditching paid work to play ODST.
